Taipei Medical University’s rich resources

Taipei Medical University (TMU) not only has great reputation in medical scientific research, but also provides many scholarships for graduate students. Because TMU has its own hospital, TMU students can get discounts during the health checkup. Besides, there is a research core facility center at TMU. The center provides many rare experimental instruments for students to use. Furthermore, TMU especially provides comfortable dormitories with low prices for foreign students.

The Introduction to GIBMTE

The Graduate Institute of Biomedical Materials and Tissue Engineering (GIBMTE) is under the College of Biomedical Engineering. The education of GIBMTE focus on the state-of-the-art technologies pertaining to stem cell culture, regenerative medicine and reconstruction, medical device development, drug delivery systems, nanotechnologies, bio-sensors, biophysics, imaging technologies, and bioprocessing of biologicals for therapeutic use.

In the master program of GIBMTE, the students are required to finish 30 credits within 2 years. The 30 credits include Thesis (6 credits), 12 required credits, and 12 elective credits. The elective courses are well-designed to improve students’ inner knowledge and independence in study. The students can choose elective courses based on their research areas. For PhD program, the students are required to complete 30 credits within 2-4 years. The 30 credits include Thesis (12 credits), 10 required credits, and 8 elective credits. Before graduation, the PhD students need to publish their studies on the journal. In the talk, Mantosh also shared his research topic “Nanocomposite Hydrogel Scaffold for Tissue Engineering”.

Interesting Courses

During the class of Mu-Shan Seminar, there were many experts from Academia-Industry Forum, industries and universities sharing their experience. Mantosh considered this class not only taught him how to be a good researcher, but also how to be an entrepreneur. Thesis Writing Class is aimed to train students’ academic writing skills. Students had many writing assignments every week. Matosh described this class was really demanding and worthy. At Chinese Learning Class, teacher use interesting way to help foreign students learn Chinese, such as playing drama, singing and dancing. Mantosh thinks this teaching method is very effective and relaxing.

Extracurricular Activities

To Mantosh, International Food Festival was the most unforgettable memory during he studies at TMU. In the festival, All the foreign students will dressed up their traditional costumes and share their delicious cuisines. Moreover, Mantosh even performanced on stage at TMU 55th Anniversary in 2015. He really enjoyed the anniversary and appreciated that TMU gave him such a great chance to present Indian culture. In the talk, he especially thanked TMU International Office for making lots of efforts to make foreign students feel like being at home in Taiwan.

Gaining

Through the training of GIBMTE, Mantosh not only became an independent researcher, but also learned how to apply theoretical knowledge to solve clinical problems. He thanked TMU for arranging so many international conferences and workshops, providing such a great studying environment. In the end, Mantosh said he never regrets for studying in Taiwan, and really recommends other foreign students to do further study at TMU.
